South African Maritime Safety Authority turned 20 years old in April 2018
SAMSA celebrates 20 years of existence. 1998-2018
After cutting the cake and sipping the champagne (apparently all non alcoholic) last month to mark the first of a year-long celebration of SAMSA’s 20th birthday, some staff members as well as a variety of stakeholders across the country, from the Deputy Minister of Transport through to industrialists and other goods and services providers in the maritime sector, were given opportunity to share their messages of support for the organization.
This process, still underway, involves all SAMSA’s offices and stakeholders spread along the South African coast from Richards Bay on the Indian Ocean through to Port Nolloth on the Atlantic seaboard.
Below are snippets of the capture of the messages (only SAMSA staff) and which when fully edited after the rounding up of everyone earmarked, will be shared on this and related SAMSA platforms as well as at events marking the 20th anniversary in the coming months.

To mark the occasion, the agency’s staff across the country marked the milestone with a cake and drinks on Friday, 06 April 2018. Below are photos of some of the activity.
